About Us

The Wingfield School of Dance has been teaching dance in Bristol and South Gloucestershire for over 40 years. It was set up in 1979 by Pamela and Melvyn Wingfield, the school was then owned by Stephanie Germanis from 2015 to 2022.Wingfield School of Dance is now being being run by principal Katie Kettle RAD RTS Acrobatic Arts.
We offer classes in Ballet following the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus for children aged 3 years old and upwards. Classes in Tap and Modern follow the Imperial Society for Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) syllabus for children aged 4 years old and upwards. We also hold Musical Theatre, Streetdance and Acrobatic Arts for children 5 years old and upwards, Contemporary and Adult ballet and tap.
At the Wingfield School, children are taught safely and professionally by experienced and caring teachers. Pupils are trained to take graded examinations with the RAD and ISTD. Pupils are also given the opportunity to perform in different performances. We also put on a 'Showcase' every 2 years in which children perform on stage in a full-scale production for large audiences. Our shows are enjoyed by all and create magical memories for pupils that last a lifetime.
The Wingfield School believes in nurturing creativity and talent and we inspire children to dance to the best of their ability. Pupils enjoy the study of dance in a disciplined and structured manner and this provides them with regular exercise, so important in a healthy lifestyle. Most importantly we promote enjoyment of dance and encourage children to express themselves. Our lessons are fun and fulfilling and always leave pupils wanting more. At Wingfield School of Dance we believe that EVERY student is a little pocket of stardust that is just waiting to shine!
Over the years pupils have gone onto lead successful careers in dance. Many pupils have join professional dance companies, others have furthered their studies of dance at major stage schools and dance colleges. Some pupil have even qualified as dance teachers themselves.
OUR TEACHERS
WHERE THE PASSION BEGINS

PRINCIPAL AND DESIGNATED SAFEGUARD LEAD
KATIE KETTLE
RAD RTS, ACROBATIC ARTS
Katie began dancing at Wingfield School of dance aged 4, dancing most evenings in ballet, tap and modern with ballet always being a firm favourite. Whilst dancing at WSOD Katie also trained at the Catherine Matthews school of ballroom and latin, reaching the highest qualification she could and even dancing at the Blackpool Tower Ballroom.
When given the opportunity to join the WSOD faculty in 2014 as an assistant teacher Katie decided she had no plans to leave any time soon.
Alongside her own dancing Katie realised she had a real passion to teach, with the support of Stephanie Germanis, Katie achieved her Registered teacher status with the Royal Academy of Dance through the Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies. Katie has also gone on to become a fully qualified Acrobatic Arts teacher too.
Away from the dance studio Katie worked as a Special needs teaching assistant specialising in Autism, ACES and Early years which has lead to a real passion for child development and creating an inclusive dance school.
Katie is passionate about making dance accessible for EVERY body and creating a safe space where students can be their most confident.
Every student is a little pocket of stardust and we love making them shine!
